LAS VEGAS, NV – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is thrilled to announce this year’s Women United Fashion Show Luncheon will include, Representative Susie Lee as a speaker, and celebrate three incredible female leaders who are creating positive change in our community. The honorees of the Women United Fashion Show Luncheon include, Dr. Rev. Marta Poling Schmitt who will receive the Volunteer Hero Award, Jerrie Merritt who will receive the Community Champion Award, and the recipient of the Deana Erickson Women United Membership Award will be announced exclusively during the event.
This year’s theme is “Women on the Move” to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of remarkable women in our community. Since its creation, UWSN’s “Women United” has raised nearly $3.5M and committed over 8,200 volunteer hours. Women United is a network like no other: doing more, raising more, and going deeper and broader to make a lasting difference in people’s lives. Throughout its 17-year history, Women United has been proud to fund programs focusing on issues impacting women and their families.
Women United also funds a four-year renewing scholarship of up to $5,000 per year open to female high school seniors in Clark County who attend a four-year program in Southern Nevada. To date, they have invested $280,000 to support 12 local female students during their college journeys. The Women United Fashion Show Luncheon will fundraise for the community, so UWSN’s Women United can continue to make a difference through funding local programs and scholarships to empower Southern Nevadans.
