United Way of Southern Nevada has so many wonderful community partnerships, promoting a variety of volunteer opportunities through their ‘Volunteer Connect’ online platform. With such ease to explore and sign up, it’s a terrific portal illustrating the offerings to get involved.
As of late, throughout the pandemic, in particular, I’ve stayed engaged with the community by participating as a Food Hero for the Delivering With Dignity program. Most weeks during the last year, I’ve taken friends and family along with me to distribute meals to the most vulnerable population in the valley. It’s been a great way to connect with others while also giving back.
Additionally, I’ve been volunteering with Women United projects for over 10 years. Two longtime Women United volunteer projects include the annual Women United Suit Drive, collecting and sorting clothes for several partner agencies, and planning the annual Women United Signature Event.
Earlier in the pandemic, my husband and I volunteered at United Way of Southern Nevada to help distribute over 186,000 face coverings to the organizations on the front lines of our community in support of more businesses and nonprofits so they could #StaySafeStayOpen.
Other organizations that I enjoy supporting in our Las Vegas community: The Smith Center’s Heart of Education Awards, Leadership Las Vegas, The Mob Museum, and Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada.
Volunteer of the Month, sponsored by NV Energy, celebrates local heroes who are dedicated to serving our community. To learn more about joining the #TeamUWSN Volunteer Team, visit volunteer.uwsn.org.
