Meet Sean Schmitt, our Volunteer of the Month, sponsored by NV Energy! Volunteering isn’t just about lending a hand—it’s about discovering new passions and embracing a purpose. Sean, a Diagnostic Specialist, at NV Energy found his calling through a colleague’s suggestion to join FIRST Nevada’s robotics competitions as a volunteer judge. What began as a curious interest five years ago has now become an integral part of Sean’s life.
For Sean, volunteering is a source of joy that transcends into other parts of his life. Witnessing the fervor and dedication of young minds in STEM, fills him with hope for the future. Sean’s passion for volunteering perfectly mirrors NV Energy’s commitment to community engagement, bolstering his dedication to service. The NV Energy Foundation’s generous contribution of $750 to FIRST Nevada through the Dollars for Doers program recognizes Sean’s devoted hours at robotics events.
Looking ahead, Sean remains steadfast in his commitment to service. In the new year, he plans to expand his impact by continuing his involvement with FIRST Nevada, nurturing the passion for STEM in young innovators. Additionally, Sean is eager to extend his support to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, contributing his time and expertise to support veterans in his community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sean for his exceptional commitment to volunteerism in our Southern Nevada community! Discover volunteer opportunities at uwsn.org/volunteer and join us in making a difference.
