This month, we are proud to celebrate Mya Thein as our Volunteer of the Month, sponsored by NV Energy! Mya’s dedication to giving back and her commitment to strengthening our community embody the true spirit of the holiday season.
For Mya, volunteering is a way to express gratitude for the opportunities she has received and to give back to the community that has given her so much. “I’m so proud and honored to be a volunteer with UWSN. I give back my time and happiness to our community because this country has given me so much — freedom, education, citizenship, and so much more,” she shares.
Mya’s passion for service was evident during UWSN’s recent Raiders Holiday Meal Packing Event. Her enthusiasm and dedication brought joy to everyone involved and helped ensure that families across Southern Nevada had warm meals to enjoy this holiday season. “Volunteering gives me more rewards because I get to meet great people. Communication and social networking were fun, and I felt happier helping others and becoming part of something greater than myself,” Mya reflects.
Her favorite holiday tradition also reflects her love of connection and exploration. “One of my favorite holiday traditions is traveling somewhere together, enjoying a new place, a new city, and walking outside in the cold together,” she says.
