United Way of Southern Nevada is proud to recognize Dan Lester as our July Volunteer of the Month, powered by NV Energy. 

For Dan, volunteering is about creating positive change while building meaningful connections. Whether he’s supporting a local project or meeting new people through service, he believes every volunteer effort has the power to make the world a better place. 

“What motivates me to volunteer is the opportunity to make the world a better place and to meet new people,” Dan shared. Volunteering has also had a lasting impact on his own life. “Volunteering has shown me that dedicating my time to a project or cause gives me much happiness and gratitude.” 

Dan says working for a company like NV Energy, which encourages employees to give back, is especially meaningful to him. “It makes me proud to work for a company that supports and invests in the community.”  

His story is a reminder that volunteering not only strengthens our communities—it also enriches our own lives through the connections we build and the impact we make.
