Volunteer of the Month Spotlight | Adela Moctezuma

United Way of Southern Nevada is proud to recognize Adela Moctezuma as our May Volunteer of the Month, presented by NV Energy.

Adela demonstrates what it means to serve her community through consistent, hands-on involvement. She gives back in multiple ways, including donating cans of food, volunteering with The Just One Project, and participating in offsite service projects through her internship with United Way of Southern Nevada.

For Adela, volunteering is rooted in responsibility and gratitude. As she shared, “It’s important to me because it really shows my social responsibility. I feel like contributing, and giving back to the community is an amazing way to give thanks.”

Her motivation is also shaped by the people she encounters through service. “Something that inspires me to volunteer is people. You never know how much people need and are grateful for until you experience it through volunteering. You also get beautiful smiles and amazing conversations,” she said.

Adela’s perspective reflects the heart of volunteerism—connection, awareness, and the ability to make a meaningful impact through simple acts of service. Whether donating food or giving her time, she continues to show how individual efforts can strengthen the broader community.

United Way of Southern Nevada is grateful for volunteers like Adela, whose dedication helps build a stronger, more compassionate Southern Nevada. Learn how you can volunteer at uwsn.org/volunteer.
