UWSN Intern Spotlight: Jordan Garcia

The UWSN Marketing team is excited to introduce our newest team member, Jordan Garcia! A junior at UNLV, Jordan joined the team as our public relations intern in early August. She is specializing in the field of public relations for her Journalism and Media Studies degree and will use what she has learned in her classes to spread the word about our impact in the Southern Nevada community. Learn more about Jordan and her UWSN internship experience by reading her interview below.

Why did you decide to join the United Way of Southern Nevada team?

I decided to intern for United Way of Southern Nevada for various reasons. This organization does amazing things for Southern Nevada. Being born and raised in Las Vegas, I’m very close to this community, and being involved with a nonprofit organization like United Way of Southern Nevada that shares the love I have for the city is a win-win. In addition, being a public relations intern aligns perfectly with the degree I’m pursuing and it’s fulfilling to create social media content for a good cause.

Can you share more about your role as a public relations intern?

I was brought on to learn more about the public relations field and help the marketing team at United Way of Southern Nevada. I work directly with UWSN Marketing Specialist, Aubrie Curci, helping her create content and engage with our followers and members to get the United Way of Southern Nevada message out to the community.

What do you enjoy most about your internship at UWSN so far?

I enjoy being able to learn something new every day. I work with so many programs and platforms that allow me to expand on my knowledge, and there is never a dull moment here. I’m always busy, and I love it! I also love working with all the people I’ve met; it’s a fun work environment.

What is your favorite activity to do in Las Vegas?

My favorite activity to do in Las Vegas is, of course, watch the Vegas Golden Knights inside the T-Mobile area. I’m so happy we finally have a “Vegas Born” team to cheer on! The atmosphere before and during the game is exhilarating and definitely creates lots of good memories. The team has so much talent, and we have the best fans in the world!

Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

You wouldn’t be able to tell from my habits, but I’m very spontaneous. Especially when I’m traveling, I will travel anywhere and everywhere, even if it’s a short trip. I look forward to adventures in my free time, and they always make for good stories!
