Join us and celebrate our Marketing and Fund Development Intern, Jasmine Cazares! Jasmine is a senior at UNLV pursuing a degree in Journalism and Media Studies with a concentration in Public Relations and Marketing. Jasmine joined Team UWSN to learn how our Marketing and Fund Development teams work together to make an impact in our community! Jasmine shared, “I chose UWSN because I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime. I am excited to learn and grow valuable skills that will take me to the next level in my career.” Learn more about Jasmine and her United Way internship experience in the interview below.
Why did you decide to join the United Way of Southern Nevada Team?
“Now, more than ever before, it is important to me to continue to do my part to make a positive impact in our community. That is one of the reasons why I decided to join the United Way of Southern Nevada team. I believe in the organization’s mission, and I am thrilled to be a part of an amazing cause and team.”
Can you share more about your role as a Marketing and Fund Development intern?
“My internship with UWSN has given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills across multiple fields. In the Marketing department, I am learning how to craft a compelling press release, create blog content for UWSN’s Blog, and track digital marketing analytics. I work closely on each marketing task with Aubrie Curci, UWSN’s Marketing Specialist.
In the Fund Development department, I have the opportunity of working with Audrey Daley, UWSN’s Fund Development Director. We have been working diligently to document department processes and create training materials. Additionally, we track the inventory of the campaign giveaway items, create donor emails, and make donor gratitude calls.”
What do you enjoy most about your internship at UWSN so far?
“The part of my internship that I enjoy the most is joining marketing and fund development teams for their weekly collaboration meetings. During the meetings, I enjoy observing the processes for rolling out new projects and initiatives. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such a helpful, knowledgeable, and warm-hearted team. Aubrie and Audrey continue to go above and beyond in ensuring that I receive the best internship experience with UWSN.”
What is your favorite activity to do in Las Vegas?
“Being born and raised in Las Vegas, I enjoy checking out new restaurants and museums. I recently visited the Museum of Dream Space. The art exhibits and light shows were astonishing to see. My favorite part was visiting the light bulb filled room.”
Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
“A few fun facts about myself are that I love reading, creative writing, and listening to music. Before the pandemic, I enjoyed attending concerts and music festivals, like Life is Beautiful and Day N’ Vegas. For now, I enjoy creating concerts and music festivals at home with my iPhone and Air Pods.”
