Can you share what inspired you to join the United Way of Southern Nevada Board of Directors?

I joined the United Way of Southern Nevada board of directors because I wanted to be a part of something that truly makes a difference for people in need in our community. The authentic impact UWSN has within our youth, and underserved community is immeasurable. I have observed how UWSN concentrates on the unmet needs in our community, and that drive for excellence and compassion is what resonated with me to join their board of directors.

They have a practical, realistic, and strategic approach to nonprofit asset mapping, benchmarking, and evaluating to pivot each quarter to ensure funds and support are allocated where the needs are greatest. At the end of the day, UWSN is all about helping people get the resources they need to not just survive, but to thrive. When you hear the stories of how UWSN has helped families and young people, they just touch your heart because this group of compassionate and caring people who work for and donate their time and resources to this tremendous cause are changing lives and making a real difference. It is a phenomenal organization that I am honored to be a part of.

How do you give back to the Southern Nevada community?

When opportunities arise that I am available for, I jump in to help. Over the years in the Southern Nevada community, I have participated in local canned food drives, toy donations, clothes donations, monetary donations, and have donated my time. I have volunteered at church to put together Thanksgiving food baskets for those in need and have visited a nursing facility caroling over the holidays to bring goodwill and cheer. I have also donated my time for the NHPY (Nevada Partnership of Homeless Youth), where I helped restore and paint the interior and exterior of an at-risk youth home. I have also volunteered in the youth department in my church, where I managed the audiovisual department.

What does it mean to you to contribute to UWSN’s mission of uniting the community to improve people’s lives?

I am honored to be a part of something so vital and extra special that makes a difference in people’s lives. The team who serves at UWSN share a passion for meeting unmet needs in the community with the people who need support the most, and it means so much to me to contribute to UWSN’s mission of uniting the community to make a difference. I am grateful that I was recognized and appointed by the board to leverage my expertise and experience to help develop strategies and provide guidance with a remarkable team of leaders that will help give people the tools, skills, and resources they need to better their lives.
