LAS VEGAS (March 20, 2025) – On Wednesday, March 19, over a hundred nonprofit leaders from across Nevada gathered at the Nevada State Legislature for Nonprofit Day at the Legislature, a bi-annual event dedicated to showcasing the power of collaboration between the public, private and nonprofit sectors. The event highlighted the critical role nonprofits play in addressing local challenges and driving solutions that improve lives across the state.
Held at the Nevada State Legislature Building in Carson City, the event brought together nonprofit executives, community leaders and policymakers to discuss crucial issues, advocate for resources and explore strategies to create stronger, more resilient communities statewide.
A key focus of the day was advocating for policies that promote advance payments for state grants, eliminating delays and helping nonprofits deliver services quickly. In partnership with Assemblymember Howard Watts, United Ways of Nevada and Nevada GrantLab support AB 442, which ensures timely reimbursements for nonprofits, enhances government accountability, strengthens public-private partnerships, and improves nonprofits’ ability to serve communities effectively.
This year’s Nonprofit Day at the Legislature was made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsors NV Energy and Nevada GrantLab, whose commitment to fostering collaboration between sectors was central to the event’s success.
“NV Energy is proud to support Nevada’s nonprofit sector as they address critical issues and strengthen communities. Nonprofit Day at the Legislature highlighted the impact of these organizations and the importance of policies that enable them to succeed,” said Ryan Bellows, Vice President of Government and External Relations, NV Energy. “We are honored to partner with local nonprofits to drive lasting change across Nevada.”
“Nevada GrantLab is committed to strengthening Nevada’s nonprofit sector by ensuring organizations have the resources, relationships, and support they need to thrive. Nonprofit Day at the Legislature was an opportunity to elevate the voices of nonprofits and advocate for policies that enable them to serve communities more effectively,” said Divya Narala, Director of Partnerships and Engagement, Nevada GrantLab. “We are proud to stand alongside United Ways of Nevada in championing investments that drive lasting impact across our state.”
