Five dynamic leaders step up to support the Southern Nevada community
LAS VEGAS- December 8, 2020- United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is pleased to announce the appointment of five new leaders to serve on its Board of Directors, each of which joined in 2020. These members include Sheila Bangalore, Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel of MP Materials; Michelle Mercado, Regional Banking District Manager of Wells Fargo Bank; Patricia Morris, Managing Director of EY; Scott Savarda, Director of Sales for Nevada Group with Enterprise Holdings; and Tom Wszalek, Founding Partner of the SW14 Group.
“We are looking forward to the addition of our new board members this year. Through their strength and leadership within our community they bring varied and important skills to our board,” said Ms. Kyle B. Rahn, UWSN President, and CEO. “They joined UWSN at a challenging time, but we are ready to navigate these difficult waters together and continue to help Southern Nevada respond and recover in the face of COVID-19.”
With her strategic business and broad legal expertise, Sheila Bangalore serves as Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel for MP Materials Corp. (NYSE: MP). As a mentor and advocate within the community, Sheila brings her passion and dedication to various initiatives, including Go Red Nevada and Women United, and also supports community efforts as a member of UWSN’s Strategic Planning Committee.
Michelle Mercado started her journey with United Way by serving on the United Way of Fresno County Board of Directors. As current Regional Banking District Manager for Wells Fargo, Michelle formulates effective strategies to optimize productivity and maximize revenue. Throughout her career, Michelle has developed various outreach programs and initiatives for teens and young women. With a wealth of strategic experience, Michelle serves as a member of UWSN’s Strategic Planning Committee.
Patricia Morris has been in public accounting for over 20 years. As Managing Director for EY, she has provided exemplary advisory services to a wide range of companies in gaming and hospitality, real estate, construction, healthcare, and life sciences industries. In addition to her role as Managing Director, Patricia is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants. Patricia will use her passion, experience, and expertise to support UWSN’s mission of uniting our community to improve people’s lives.
During his 22-year career with Enterprise Holdings, Scott Savarda has built strong relationships within the Nevada business, government, and nonprofit sectors. From 2005-2010, Scott served on the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra Board of Directors. With 18 years of experience in the Nevada market, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge of and passion for the business landscape that will benefit UWSN’s corporate partnerships.
Tom Wszalek is an accomplished media, entertainment, and technology executive. He brings over 30 years of management experience across a range of companies, including The Walt Disney Company and Mattel Inc. He is a founding partner of SW14 Group LLC, a management and mentoring consultancy focused on strategy, marketing, and technology. Tom’s expertise will help grow UWSN’s online brand strategy and donor engagement initiatives. In addition to his role on the Board of Directors, Tom serves as the Chair of the UWSN Marketing Committee and a member of the Impact Committee.
