LAS VEGAS (Sep. 8, 2025) – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), in collaboration with NV Energy, Southwest Gas, and community partners, provided critical past-due utility bill support to over 1,500 senior households during this year’s Project REACH Senior Expos, powered by NV Energy. Across the valley, seniors received a total of over $360,000 in financial assistance to help cover past-due utility bills.
UWSN’s Project REACH Senior Expos, powered by NV Energy provide essential support with past-due utility bills and access to community resources for seniors aged 62 and older, especially those experiencing financial challenges. Funded by UWSN’s Emergency Assistance Fund and the NV Energy Foundation, the Project REACH program is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults in the community.
“For many seniors, the UWSN Project REACH Senior Expos, powered by NV Energy, are a vital source of relief during difficult times,” said Samuel Rudd, UWSN President & CEO. “We are grateful to our partners and volunteers whose dedication makes these expos possible. United is the way we ensure older adults can stay safe, supported, and connected at home.”
“The Project REACH Senior Expos are a great example of what’s possible when we work together as a community to benefit seniors across Las Vegas,” said Brandon Barkhuff, President and CEO of NV Energy. “I am grateful for the hard work of our team members and the partnership with United Way of Southern Nevada, as we work together to deliver critical resources to seniors.”
For those who could not attend the expos, assistance for past-due utility bills for local seniors through the Project REACH program is still available. Eligible individuals and households can apply for up to $300 in assistance once every 12 months by visiting uwsn.org/projectreach. Southwest Gas customers can visit www.swgas.com/en/energy-share to contact an Energy Share provider to determine eligibility. Individuals may receive up to $250 annually.
