LAS VEGAS (Oct. 25, 2023) – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) has selected 54 Southern Nevada early education classrooms to help families enroll their children in preschool for free or at a reduced cost. Over the last eight years, the Nevada Department of Education and United Way of Southern Nevada have partnered to assist more than 5,000 students through the Nevada Ready! State Pre-K program. This year, the program will ensure that Southern Nevada preschoolers have access to quality education through $7,022,530 in scholarships.
“United Way of Southern Nevada is thrilled to announce the expansion of our Nevada Ready! Pre-K Program with the addition of new preschool centers. Early education is the cornerstone of a child’s lifelong success,” states Julian High, President and CEO of UWSN. “By offering free access to high-quality early education, we are not only giving our children the best start in life but also empowering working families throughout Southern Nevada.”
Scholarships will be issued through qualified centers to families in need based on childcare center recommendations and referrals. All centers participate in the Quality Rating Improvement Systems (QRIS) created by the Nevada Department of Education. The early education centers below have been selected to receive funding to provide scholarships for preschool and pre-k enrollment in southern Nevada:
