Over 5,000 professional clothing items donated to help women in need

United Way of Southern Nevada is proud to announce that women across Southern Nevada united to help each other during the 13th Annual Women United Suit Drive. Women from across Clark County dropped off women’s professional items from November 4 through November 6 to help local women find success in the workplace.

The items donated through the 13th Annual Women United Suit Drive will help women prepare for job interviews, enter the workforce, and achieve financial stability. In total, there were 5,279 gently used suits, shoes, and accessories donated by members in the community, and 10,000 face coverings donated by Bank of America. Local organizations including Goodwill Career Connections, S.A.F.E. House, SafeNest, The Shade Tree, and Work Opportunities Readiness Center of HELP of Southern Nevada will help distribute these items to women participating in their return-to-work programs.

“With so many women struggling to find a job and support their families during this challenging time, our Women United Suit Drive is more important than ever,” said UWSN President and CEO Kyle B. Rahn. “I am so inspired and grateful for the incredible support of our community that will help hundreds of local women.”

“I’ve been involved with the Women United Suit Drive from the very beginning. It is such a simple way to support women who are working hard to become self-sufficient,” shared Women United Founding Member Rhonda Clausen. “The changes I’ve seen and the stories I’ve heard through the years only reinforce my belief that it can be something as simple as a woman seeing her professionally-attired self in the mirror that gives her the confidence to head out the door to a new future.”
