UNITED WAY OF SOUTHERN NEVADA ELEVATES LEADERSHIP TEAM TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY IMPACT

LAS VEGAS (Feb. 25, 2025) – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is strengthening its leadership team with key promotions that will drive greater impact in 2025 and beyond. Karen Alonso has been promoted to Chief Advancement and Communications Officer, Jennifer Beckwith to Senior Director of Marketing, Megan Cortney to Senior Director of Community Impact, and Savanna Sibley to Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement. Their leadership will help expand UWSN’s initiatives, strengthen community partnerships, and drive lasting change in Southern Nevada.

Karen Alonso, Chief Advancement and Communications Officer

Karen Alonso, now Chief Advancement and Communications Officer, joined UWSN in April 2023, bringing 14 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and strategic communications. She specializes in innovative strategies that enhance brand growth and fundraising efforts, successfully increasing donor engagement and community impact. She currently serves as President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Las Vegas Chapter, and Immediate Past President of the American Marketing Association, Las Vegas Chapter.

Jennifer Beckwith, Senior Director of Marketing

Jennifer Beckwith, a seasoned marketing professional with over a decade of experience in the nonprofit, financial, and hospitality sectors, joined UWSN in 2021. Now serving as Senior Director of Marketing, she has led successful campaigns, events, and digital marketing initiatives, including the launch of UWSN’s donor platform and website redesign. Passionate about community service and impactful storytelling, she strives to make Southern Nevada a better place for all. Beyond her work, Jennifer remains committed to community service through active volunteerism.

Megan Cortney, Senior Director of Community Impact

Megan Cortney, who joined UWSN in 2021, now serves as the Senior Director of Community Impact, overseeing programs such as the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, Project REACH, and UWSN’s Community Impact Grants. A committed advocate for social change, Megan serves on the Nevada Advisory Council on Federal Assistance. Passionate about community empowerment, Megan is dedicated to ensuring equitable access to essential services and fostering a stronger, more resilient Southern Nevada.

Savanna Sibley, Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement

Savanna Sibley, now Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement, has been with UWSN since 2019 and has been instrumental in elevating volunteerism within the organization. Under her leadership, Volunteer Engagement became a dedicated department, advancing key initiatives such as UWSN’s Volunteer Connect platform, Corporate Service Projects, the annual Day of Caring, and partnerships with organizations like NFL Green and the Las Vegas Super Bowl Host Committee. As a member of the Jameson Fellowship 2024 Cohort, Savanna collaborates across sectors to foster compassion, unity, and impactful change.
