UNITED WAY OF SOUTHERN NEVADA AND CLARK COUNTY EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER PROGRAM ANNOUNCES $1,220,268 AVAILABLE IN FUNDING

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 27, 2025) – As Southern Nevada continues to grapple with critical needs for stable housing, food security, and essential utilities, United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is proud to announce the allocation of $1,220,268 in federal funds through Phase 42 of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).

In Fiscal Year 2024, Nevada 2-1-1 received 122,000 calls from Southern Nevada residents seeking help with essential needs including housing, food, and utilities. This funding will provide critical support to local nonprofits working to assist individuals and families in need across the region. Applications are open for nonprofits to apply through Friday, February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM (Pacific).

UWSN partnered with FEMA, United Way Worldwide, and 22 local nonprofit organizations last year to address these urgent needs, assisting over 61,000 Southern Nevadans with housing, food, and utility support.  EFSP funds are federal funds made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA. As the local fiscal agent of EFSP, UWSN oversees the application process and coordinates with the EFSP Local Board, which carefully evaluates and allocates these resources to a network of nonprofit partners throughout Southern Nevada.

Nonprofit organizations interested in applying must view a mandatory applicant webinar to be eligible to apply. The recorded webinar is available at uwsn.org/EFSP and must be viewed no later than Friday, February 28, 2025. Applicants must certify that they have viewed the webinar, which includes application instructions and an application code.

If organizations have questions relating to this application process, please email EFSP@uwsn.org.
