Organization receives 86,000 face-coverings to support local nonprofits in need.
LAS VEGAS – As nonprofits across the valley continue to help our community recover and rebuild, United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) today announced it has received 86,000 masks from Bank of America to keep those fighting on the frontlines safe. This donation is part of an ongoing nationwide effort by Bank of America to provide essential personal protective equipment (PPE) to communities hardest hit by COVID-19 and is connected to the bank’s $1 billion, four-year commitment of additional support to help local communities address economic and racial inequality accelerated by a global pandemic.
UWSN is distributing this essential PPE to local nonprofits and community organizations as COVID-19 infection rates increase; so far, 15 organizations have benefited from this donation. “Since March, I have made it my mission to provide PPE resources to our nonprofit community,” says Kyle B. Rahn, President and CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “Through this incredible donation, Bank of America has ensured our front-line nonprofit responders can stay safe while helping those who need it most.”
“The health and safety of the Southern Nevada community remains our top priority during this prolonged public health and humanitarian crisis,” said Al Welch, Bank of America market president for Las Vegas. “In addition to providing approximately $1 million in COVID-relief grants to local nonprofits, we’re committed to helping communities slow the spread of the virus by working with local partners like United Way of Southern Nevada to distribute PPE masks to the valley’s most vulnerable populations.”
UWSN’s nonprofit partners shared their gratitude for the donation and how these face-coverings will help them continue their essential work. “We are thankful for this donation of face coverings to ensure that the safety of our volunteers and staff remains a priority. Volunteers have been ready to get back out there and give back to our local parks. It is so important that we have been able to do this work safely!” shared Almendra Johnson, Volunteer Program Director of Get Outdoors Nevada.
