The Miller family was facing some struggles in their day-to-day life due to the behavioral issues their boys, *Sebastian and *Mark, were facing both at home and school. *Ashley, their mom, was referred by Hickey Elementary School to seek help at Boys Town Nevada, one of our local partners. At first, Ashley was doubtful of receiving support since she had experienced CPS involvement before. With time, the Boys Town Nevada family consultant was able to gain trust by empathizing with Ashley and creating a plan tailored to meet the specific needs of the Miller family.
The support provided by United Way of Southern Nevada to organizations like Boys Town Nevada helps families learn an innovative approach to parenting and child care. With our support Ashley, Sebastian, and Mark are now implementing routines that have allowed them to create a positive environment in their home, enjoying more time as a family. Ashley said, “I was afraid at first because I felt like a bad mom.” But once she created a connection with Amaraini, her consultant, Ashley said she felt “like I had nothing to be ashamed of and helped me learn so much about myself, kids, and life.”
