Judith’s passion for working with children and interest in advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education led her to the Discovery Children’s Museum’s YouthWorks internship program, a funded program of United Way of Southern Nevada. Embarking on a journey of professional development, she wanted an internship that aligned with her special interests, while advancing the museum’s educational vision. The YouthWorks paid Internship Program gave her the hands-on experience she desired in teaching local children about the sciences through fun and interactive exhibits.
Throughout her internship, Judith noticed how her newfound skills grew! Through UWSN and Discovery Children’s Museums support, Judith had the opportunity to develop new interactive exhibits and educational programs for children and local families who visited the museum. She found herself crafting experiences that not only captivated young minds but also fostered a deep appreciation for the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Judith took every opportunity to hone her teaching skills and learn about fun ways to share her passion for STEM with local families.
Judith shared how your support, through UWSN’s funding of the YouthWorks Internship program, is helping her reach her personal and professional goals in life, “Since starting the program, my life has improved as I have gained practical skills, expanded my network, and deepened my understanding of the museum’s impact on the community.” Your support of UWSN at uwsn.org/donate can provide pathways and resources for students like Judith to gain valuable professional experience, enabling them to achieve their dream careers and make a lasting impact right here in Southern Nevada.
