*Jordan, a mother of two, found resilience and transformation for her family after struggling to adjust to life challenges. After the tragic passing of their father before Christmas last year, her boys, aged 5 and 4, were both struggling behaviorally, with her eldest escalating struggles at school. A neighbor, whose children participated in various after-school programs at UWSN’s partner, Casa De Luz, recommended the program to Jordan as both of their families have faced similar hardship. Hesitant and feeling under-supported, Jordan took a leap of faith and enrolled her family in the program.
UWSN and Casa De Luz helped the family by moving them to a new neighborhood, a promise to a sanctuary of a brighter future, transferring the eldest to a new school, and having a safe space in a secluded classroom. Collaborating with community partners such as UWSN, Casa De Luz secured essential funding for the Youth Center, where the boys now receive daily afterschool tutoring. Casa De Luz also orchestrated seamless bus coordination to ensure the boys’ regular attendance at the center.
Through these programs, both boys have flourished at home and in school. Once feeling adrift, Jordan found a newfound sense of support and tranquility within the walls of her home. The family now strides forward in life with unwavering assurance and affirmation, knowing that UWSN and Casa De Luz remain by their side. Through your generous donations to UWSN, you can support our partner’s programs, like the Youth Center, to give families like Jordan and her boys pathways to success and security.
