Diamond’s Story

As Alexander McQueen said, “Fashion is self-confident and fearless.” Through the power of fashion, our partner Dress for Success of Southern Nevada, helps local women overcome their fears and enter their careers with confidence. Growing up, Diamond always had hand-me-down clothes and never had the chance to develop her own sense of style. As she entered adulthood and became a single mother, she could not afford the new clothing and was struggling in her job search. Through her case manager, Diamond found out about our partner Dress for Success of Southern Nevada, and was determined to enter the program. Together, UWSN and Dress for Success Southern Nevada helped Diamond discover her own style, develop the confidence to pursue her dream career as a comedian, and provide a brighter future for her son! Diamond shared, “Dress for Success has helped me feel comfortable in my own skin and that I can accomplish my career goals. As a single mother, my son keeps me motivated and I want to be an example for him and show him that he can overcome anything.”
