Attendees will Unite to Celebrate Southern Nevada’s Dynamic Women Leaders
United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women United invites the community to join them during the 13th Annual Women United Signature Event on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 4 pm. This virtual event will celebrate local women and raise funds to provide scholarships for local female students. Special guests will include, Carl Ray, celebrity makeup artist to former First Lady Michelle Obama and many other celebrities, Mercedes Martinez, host of “Mercedes in the Morning” on KMXB/ Mix 94.1, and Sierra Black, Las Vegas country singer-songwriter.
Women United members are dedicated to supporting emerging women leaders in Southern Nevada and empowering girls from a young age. Through the support of Women United, 9 young women have received college scholarships and 1,233 girls have built confidence and self-worth through Girls on the Run. Annually, Women United collects thousands of items of professional clothing at their suit drive for local women in back-to-work programs. In total, Women United members have committed over 7,200 volunteer hours through events like the Suit Drive.
Dedicated to helping those who need it most, Women United members are actively empowering families, individuals and the next generation of leaders. With a passion for creating a community where everyone can succeed, Women United has committed nearly $3 million since their inception and helped to create incredible outcomes like:
- 2,716 children received a high-quality pre-kindergarten education.
- 10,976 students received support to graduate high school.
- 1,554 people received job training and coaching to find a good job.
- 641,148 individuals received housing, food, and utility assistance.
By uniting diverse and compassionate women in our community, Women United is leading the charge and inspiring the change in Southern Nevada. We encourage women across the valley to join us to connect, volunteer, and inspire.
