PARTNERSHIP HISTORY
United Way and the labor movement have partnered since 1942 to strengthen communities across America. This partnership began after World War II with a payroll deduction system for union members to support United Way, leading to labor representation on United Way boards and collaborative fundraising efforts. For 80 years, AFL-CIO and United Way have worked together to help everyone reach their potential.
In Southern Nevada, this partnership is exemplified by the United Labor Agency of Nevada (ULAN), established in 1995 by United Way of Southern Nevada and Nevada State AFL-CIO. Serving as a bridge between the two organizations, ULAN aims to build a better community and help people in need.
