Las Vegas, NV – Last month, Congresswoman Dina Titus presented a $ 1 million investment in collaboration with United Way of Southern Nevada for the Language Access Project, the grant is aiming to remove barriers and ensure equitable access to vital services for Limited English Proficient Nevadans.
According to data 29.86% of Nevadans speak a language other than English and these 12 sub-awardees will play a pivotal role in bridging linguistic gaps in the nine most often spoken languages in our community besides English. The selected organization will also develop a glossary of terms commonly used in social services in the selected languages and create a directory of provider organizations with competency in the identified languages.

- African Diaspora of Las Vegas
- Asian Community Development Council
- Casa de Luz
- DISCOVERY Children’s Museum
- Indigenous A.F.
- Lighthouse Charities
- Nevada Mercy and Care Inc
- Project REAL
- Puentes
- Research Education and Access for Community Health (R.E.A.C.H.)
- Make the Road Nevada
The identified languages are the following:
- Amharic/Ethiopian
- American Sign Language
- Arabic
- Chinese
- Farsi/Dari
- Korean
- Spanish
- Tagalog
- Vietnamese
Since 2022, United Way of Southern Nevada has convened a Language Access collaborative with public and private representation. The partnership aims to build a more inclusive Nevada that reflects the linguistic needs of the community to improve and expand access to the services.
