Hosted by United Way of Southern Nevada, Moonridge Group, and the CEO Exchange of Southern Nevada, the event focused on the impact of nonprofits in the State of Nevada
LAS VEGAS – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), Moonridge Group, and the CEO Exchange of Southern Nevada hosted the 2023 Nonprofit and Philanthropy Day at the Nevada State Legislature on Thursday, April 20. This special day at the Legislature highlighted the importance of public, private, and nonprofit partnerships to empower and strengthen communities.
“We were proud to be part of a day that embodies the missions of UWSN, Moonridge Group, and the CEO Exchange of Southern Nevada to unite public and private organizations to create a brighter future for Nevadans,” said Julian High, President and CEO of UWSN. “We celebrated the impact of philanthropic partnerships that have provided solutions for our state’s most challenging problems, while welcoming future collaboration.”
A total of 71 organizations and over 90 people attended the event, and several nonprofits such as The Children’s Cabinet, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, and Opportunity Village participated in interview panels moderated by Punam Mathur.
“This event will be a step towards building long-lasting relationships between Nevada’s philanthropists and the Nevada State Legislature,” said Moonridge Group Principal and CEO Julie Murray. “We want the public as well as our state representatives to know that our funding networks are doing all that we can to make the largest social impact possible.”
“A close partnership between nonprofits and government is crucial to the health and vitality of the State of Nevada,” said Bob Brown, member of the CEO Exchange of Southern Nevada. “By working together, we can enact policies and direct funding that strengthens the safety net to accomplish our collective goal – helping more Nevadans thrive.”
Attendees met with Nevada State leadership including Governor Joe Lombardo, Governor’s Chief of Staff Ben Kieckhefer, Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony, and Treasurer Zach Conine. The day also included a tour of the capitol complex and an evening reception. Also in attendance was Asw. Rochelle Nguyen, Asm. Duy Nguyen, Asm. Orentlicher, Asw. Selena Torres, Asw. Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod, Asw. Tracy Brown-May, and Senator Marilyn Dondero Loop. The event was sponsored by the NV Energy Foundation and Lexicon Bank.
