Show Your Caring Spirit during Day of Caring on FRIDAY, October 2

Hundreds of volunteers will show their caring spirit for Southern Nevada by completing projects at local nonprofit agencies on Friday, October 2, 2020, as part of the United Way of Southern Nevada’s fifth annual Day of Caring.

“Over the past six months, our community has found new ways to take care of each other, from delivering meals to homebound individuals to connecting virtually with seniors to ensure their needs are met,” said Kyle B. Rahn, President & CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “Day of Caring is a way for people to channel their collective power and community goodwill to support the nonprofit organizations caring for hundreds of thousands of Southern Nevadans during this pandemic.”

As Southern Nevada’s largest one-day volunteer event, people of all ages can rally together and make a difference during UWSN’s Day of Caring. For 2020, UWSN has developed innovative and socially distant volunteer opportunities to keep partners, staff, and volunteers healthy and safe while they continue to meet critical community needs.

Generous UWSN Day of Caring sponsors, including NV Energy, JP Morgan Chase, KTNV Channel 13 Action News, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, The Korte Company, and the Simmons Group will make a difference virtually and in-person along with hundreds of other community volunteers.

“At JPMorgan Chase, we are committed to investing in people and places to create the conditions for lasting change and cultivate thriving communities,” shared Gretchen Lin, Chase Business Banking’s Area Manager for Las Vegas. “Partnering with United Way of Southern Nevada for Day of Caring helps us leverage our greatest strengths – our employees – to ensure we can make a real impact in our Southern Nevada community.”

Volunteers will gather for a virtual kickoff celebration on United Way of Southern Nevada’s Facebook page from 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM. The Facebook Live will feature Tricia Kean from KTNV 13 Action News, a performance of the National Anthem by Michelle Johnson, and a morning workout by Orangetheory Fitness. At the kickoff, volunteers will hear inspiring stories of other volunteers making a difference and see how they will make an impact throughout the day. Volunteer opportunities with various nonprofits and community organizations will begin at 10 AM.

While projects will be completed all over Southern Nevada, the following sites are cleared for media on Friday, October 2:
