LAS VEGAS – Each year, as current board members’ terms come to a conclusion, new leaders join the United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) Board of Directors to enhance the mission of UWSN. As a well-established and recognizable community partner to so many deserving organizations for more than 30 years, UWSN is excited to announce the election of former UWSN board member and trustee Donald Snyder to the office of board chair.
“Recently, Don Snyder graciously agreed to serve as the United Way of Southern Nevada’s 65th anniversary campaign chairman,” notes UWSN President and CEO Julian High. “We are so grateful that he is now stepping into the role of Chairman to utilize his dedication to the cause of assisting Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable populations even further.” Snyder’s term begins immediately. He will continue to be instrumental in aiding UWSN’s fundraising goals by challenging Southern Nevada’s philanthropic community to match and exceed the record-breaking $10 million gift UWSN received from philanthropist and Amazon co-founder, MacKenzie Scott.
According to UWSN Vice Chairman John Page, “Don has proven to have this community’s best interests at heart and truly understands the heartfelt mission of our organization, as well as that fact that there is so much more to be done. I look forward to working with him to deepen our commitment here in Southern Nevada.”
Snyder’s dedication to Southern Nevada has included involvement with many notable corporations and organizations, including First Interstate Bank, Bank of Nevada, Boyd Gaming, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has also served on the governing boards of a number of associations, including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Nevada Development Authority, the Fremont Street Experience, and the Nevada Resort Association. His experience, support, involvement, and partnership efforts will continue to assist UWSN in raising the bar for nonprofit excellence in the Southern Nevada community.
“I’m honored to accept this role,” says Snyder, “and am pleased to join the board of directors in leading UWSN to new heights.”
