65th Anniversary Team UWSN Spotlight | Karen Alonso

Welcome, Karen Alonso – Our New Vice President of Marketing at UWSN!

We are thrilled to introduce Karen Alonso as the Vice President of Marketing for the United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN). With her wealth of experience and deep passion for community impact, Karen leads a team of talented marketers, driving the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies that align with our mission of uniting the community to improve people’s lives. We recently had a chance to sit down with Karen to learn more about her role at UWSN and her favorite memories in Las Vegas.

Tell us about your role at UWSN?

As the Vice President of Marketing for the United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), I lead a team of talented marketers in developing and implementing effective marketing strategies that support our mission of uniting our community to improve people’s lives. I work closely with all departments to ensure that our messaging and branding is aligned with our goals and objectives. My responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new marketing opportunities, measuring the effectiveness of our campaigns, and collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to promote awareness and engagement with our organization. I am deeply passionate about making a positive impact in my community and am honored to be a part of the UWSN team.

What is your favorite memory of working with UWSN?

I joined the UWSN team just three days before the annual Women United Fashion Show Luncheon. While it was a hectic time to start with the organization, I was incredibly impressed by the entire team’s willingness to lend a helping hand and the overall level of excitement and camaraderie that was displayed in planning this successful event. There was dancing on Zoom, a lot of laughter, hard work, and collaboration. It made me realize I made the right choice in finding a new workplace to call home.

What is one thing everyone must do when they visit Las Vegas?

Hike at Red Rock, kayak on the Colorado River, or take a drive to Valley of Fire. There’s more to Vegas than the Strip!

What is your favorite memory from Las Vegas History?

One of my favorite moments in Las Vegas history was the arrival of our first professional sports team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Following the tragic events of the Route 91 Harvest Festival, I truly believe that the success of the VGK during their inaugural season brought our community together, provided us with a sense of pride and purpose, and allowed us to find hope and inspiration during a difficult time.

We are beyond excited to have Karen Alonso as part of the UWSN team, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact she will bring to our community through her leadership. Join us in welcoming Karen and stay tuned for more exciting updates at UWSN!
