Volunteer of the Month Spotlight | Alexis Albert

Volunteering often starts as a requirement for many students, just as it did for Alexis Albert. Initially motivated by her high school program, Alexis discovered a connection with her community through her volunteer work. She realized that volunteering wasn’t just about fulfilling an obligation but was an opportunity to learn and grow.

By offering her help to those in need, Alexis has gained a deeper understanding of her community and the various challenges its members face. This awareness has cultivated a passion for community service that goes beyond the original requirement, transforming into a commitment to helping others.

For Alexis, volunteering has been an inspiring and transformative experience. Not only has it allowed her to participate in a wide array of activities with her friends, but it has also introduced her to many adult mentors and friends who have enriched her life.

She firmly believes that student volunteering is crucial, “I think it’s important for students to volunteer in their community because it teaches us about our home and how we can help make it better.” Alexis shared. Volunteering fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy, teaching students that they have the power to make a difference.
