LAS VEGAS (Sept. 30, 2024) – In honor of International Translation Day, United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is proud to highlight their Language Access Services. UWSN offers Interpretation and Translation Services to community nonprofits (501c3’s) and government agencies at no cost. This service is made possible through UWSN’s Language Access Project, funded by a Congressional Appropriation championed by Congresswoman Dina Titus.
This federally funded project is designed to identify service gaps in the community and ensure that individuals with limited English proficiency are empowered to successfully navigate the diverse network of necessary resources, support and information.
Translation and interpretation services are provided by Propio, a language service provider with over 25 years of experience and ASL Communications, one of the largest service providers for services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Nevada. UWSN is offering access to remote interpretation and translation at no cost. This is a first come, first serve opportunity that will close when the funds expire. Based on reliable government data and census sources, the project includes, but is not limited to, the following nine most commonly spoken languages in Southern Nevada besides English:
- American Sign Language (ASL)
- Amharic/Ethiopian
- Arabic
- Chinese
- Farsi/Dari
- Filipino/Tagalog
- Korean
- Spanish
- Vietnamese
