Volunteer of the Month Spotlight | Kayla Miller

We’re proud to recognize Kayla Miller, UWSN Donor Relations Manager, as our Volunteer of the Month, sponsored by NV Energy! Kayla’s commitment to giving back shines brightest during the holiday season, when families face increased challenges.

“I volunteer during the holidays at food distributions and meal events, and I also donate to warmth drives after cleaning out my closet,” Kayla shared. “Giving back feels like a way to show care and support to neighbors in need.”

Her dedication is deeply personal. Growing up as a military kid, Kayla moved frequently and experienced many welcoming communities. “I’ve always tried to give back to communities that have been so caring to me,” she said.

What inspires Kayla is a strong “it takes a village” mentality. “It’s difficult to have a village without any villagers, so I always aim to ‘be a villager,’” she explained.

Her favorite holiday tradition is driving to Tucson every Christmas to celebrate with her best friend, creating a chosen family tradition when traveling to her East Coast family was difficult.

At UWSN, Kayla’s passion and generosity remind us that volunteering is about building community, one meaningful connection at a time.
