Daisy joined the Tropa Exploradora program as a shy and reserved first grader. The Tropa Exploradora program, supported by UWSN, provides bilingual (Spanish/English) troop leadership to girls in Latina communities who are English-language learners. When Daisy first joined the program, her father had reservations about the program from his wanting of a wholesome educational environment for his daughter. Through this program, Daisy has blossomed into an outgoing, energetic 2nd grade Brownie and has found opportunities for new adventures and has made new friends. Her father is now one of the program’s proudest supporters and takes pictures of every new badge placed on his daughter’s uniform. Through your generosity, United Way of Southern Nevada and Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is able to provide a network and a sisterhood for girls from kindergarten through 12th grade.
