United Way's Women's Leadership Council Luncheon Draws Crowd of More than 500

United Way of Southern Nevada held its second annual Women’s Leadership Council Luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 with more than 500 local women in attendance. The Women’s Leadership Council recognized three outstanding women leaders who have encouraged change to improve lives through their exemplary philanthropic efforts locally. Carol Harter, Executive Director of Black Mountain Institute and UNLV President Emerita received the 2010 Commitment to Education Award; Maureen Peckman, Chief Emerging Business Officer for Cleveland Clinic Nevada and CEO for Keep Memory Alive received the 2010 Access to Healthcare Award; and the Honorable Lorraine Hunt-Bono, former Lieutenant Governor and Commissioner, Nevada Commission on Tourism received the 2010 Financial Stability Award.
About United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women’s Leadership Council
The Women’s Leadership Council, co-chaired by Cathy A. Jones and Judy Kropid, is a program of United Way of Southern Nevada that brings local female leaders to the front line to address the community’s most pressing needs. Members of the Women’s Leadership Council commit an annual, individual investment of $2,500 or more to United Way of Southern Nevada, and enjoy benefits such as participation in meaningful leadership and educational initiatives, hands-on volunteer involvement, executive level networking opportunities, favorable tax benefits, and visible recognition as a woman leader.
